How to fix the “Unable to Move Message” error…
In order to stop the ‘Unable to Move Message’ error notification from popping up when you try to move an email to the trash and allow you to actually delete unwanted emails from your IMAP email account on your iPhone or iPad, you’ll need to go into the advanced settings for your email account and select the specific folder where you want your deleted emails to be moved to.
The process for selecting a location to move deleted messages to is as follows:
Open the Settings App on your iPhone/iPad
Select ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’
Select the email account you are experiencing the ‘Unable to Move Message’ error with
Select the ‘Account’ box
Select ‘Deleted Mailbox’ under Mailbox Behaviors
Select the ‘Trash’ folder on the server (as shown below)
Using the arrow icon on the top left, back up two screens to the Account screen, and then select the blue ‘Done’ button on the top right
That’s it! Now that you’ve specified where you want to move deleted messages to for your account, you should no longer see the ‘Unable to Move Message’ error message when you try to move unwanted emails to the trash.
