Do you want to know how to remove a watermark in Word 2010?
In a previous article I wrote about how to add a watermark in Microsoft Word 2010, but if you no longer want to have the watermark in the document, and need help figuring out how to remove it, then read on and I’ll show you how to remove that watermark from your document!
How to remove a watermark in Word 2010…
A watermark is a security feature for a document to identify that document as either confidential, a draft, or some other status which you don’t want people to be able to freely copy or pass off as their own creation, and so having the watermark image appear behind your document’s text will help deter people from doing this.
So if you’ve read my previous article and added a watermark to your word document, but now want to remove it because it is no longer considered confidential, personal or a draft, then I’ll show you how to do that here.
It’s important to note that you’ll only be able to remove a watermark on a document that you’ve personally created or a document that you have full editing permissions for. If you copied a document from someone or downloaded a document from the web, you may not be able to remove their watermark.
This is a security feature built-in to Microsoft Word to prevent people from removing a watermark from someone else’s document, and so if you are unable to remove the watermark by following these instructions, make sure you are the owner of the document, or if not, then contact the person who created the document and ask for their assistance in removing it.
To remove a watermark from a document in Word 2010:
- Open Microsoft Word 2010, and make sure the document you want to remove the watermark from is open.
- Click on the “Page Layout” tab on the top menu.
- Click on the Watermark button, and a window will drop down. Toward the bottom of this window you will see an option called “Remove Watermark”. Click on this option to remove the watermark from your document.
And that’s all you need to do to remove a watermark from a document you created in Word 2010!
Again, if you are unable to remove the watermark from your document by following these instructions, make sure you are either the owner of the document, or that you have full editing permissions. If this is still not working, let me know in the comments below and I’ll work with you to get your problem resolved and your watermark removed!
